Saturday 17 May 2008
Medieval Street Fair
Market Place, High Street. 10.00am-4.00pm
|

Prepare to meet Sir Malias de Brac, from Swords of Chivalry
[website] |
|
Fifty craft and local charity stalls (with many
stallholders in costume!). Experience the sights and smells (there’s a
pig roast) of Old England! Come and see the medieval jester and our
street sellers and re-enactors from the Guild of Historical Interpreters
who will show you what it was like to live in Medieval Baldock.
Look out for Lady Eleanor de Burgh who has come to
the Fair to recruit two new servants. She'll take your children off your
hands for a year to work in her kitchens - though you may want to haggle
about the wages.
Also going about the Fair is Sal the seller of potions; a cure for every
ailment though don't believe all she says.
Sir Malias de Brac and his fellow Knights
from Swords
of Chivalry will demonstrate how weapons were used in Medieval England
and maybe re-enact a skirmish or two.
Why not join in the spirit of the day and come in
Medieval costume?!! Here are some
costume
ideas! |
|
|

 |
For the children, as well as the
jester and medieval knights, there will be fairground rides. At
approximately 11.00am, our two ‘judges’ (you can’t miss them) will be
deciding which stalls have entered into the spirit of the Medieval theme
and will be handing out prizes.
FREE
event.
